< Sinclair reporter says he was fired for criticizing film>

These days are hard times. The American election is rolling into its final stretch. Television in the US is reaching a near crescendo of political ads full of assertions unbacked by any facts and filled with half-truths and the most foul forms of innuendo imaginable. Radio, both FM and AM, is a torrent of near screaming voices, interspersed with the dulcet tones of full time professional voices whose skills are to persuade, not prove, or to cast more aspersions. The print media is far behind because it takes at least a modicum of skill to write a coherent sentence and, having done so, the writer is on the public record. The US is flat out and the noise is amazing.
