Oh. Well. Sometimes you do have to shoot a few people before the other side sees the light of sweet reason.

And sometimes they never do. You just have to beat the piss out of them.

But the best solution would be an agreed political settlement. If it can be had. The problem is that, for domestic political reasons largely, the Arab leaders have needed a foreign scapegoat to blame their failings on. Israel has filled the role splendidly (and done things to help thing along splendidly, too). The general POV of the Arab nations is Israel has no right to exist. The fact is, it's there. They are going to have to come to terms with that and agree that it will remain there. THEN a settlement might be possible. Until THAT happens, it won't.
