Its not true that there is no current inflation, but inflation is low at this point.

Your mistake is looking at current inflation. We could currently have no inflation, or even deflation and still have to adjust prices for inflation when you compare them to the price of the same thing a decade or a century ago.

Inflation has been moderate to low for a number of years now but even moderate to low inflation increases prices over time.
