On Chinese labor we have a prior post (wish I could find it?) indicating manufacturers are having a tough getting slave labor now, as more people choose to stay on the land. Life is better out there, especially as food inflation has benefitted farmers.

I also have an anecdotal report indicating the same from a lady who is a clothing buyer with an Oregon based company. She also confirmed to me the "profit squeeze" set-up. As old FIFO inventories are used up, the sellers are getting tougher to deal with. She also cited an incident where a tariff was removed on Peruvian clothing products, and that they were expecting to share in the lower costs, but that the Peruvians took it instead. Seems like all the lower hanging fruit has been picked.
