No. I am in the US now. Seems to me you have read too much of the US media on China. One can post pretty much everything on the Net in China without being afraid of persecution. The worst can happen is to have the post deleted by the administrator. I have seen many rude posts cursing Chinese gov. and high ranking officials on all kinds of Chinese forums, including People's Daily, and XinHua News Forums. Even if for those blocked foreign sites (like BBC or a lot of forums in Canada or the US), plenty of young people can access them through Proxy. Haven't you heard a saying? Law does not apply to the majority<g>

Maybe locally, definitely not in Central gov. But what can local gov. do? the most they can do is go farther and inner areas like Guizhou, Sichuan... to recruit workers. It is not like China does not have labor law, or minimum wage law, it is a lot of officials from local labor dept. wearing the same pair of pants with sweatshop owners<g>, thus do not enforce the law. So Cheap labor shortage is definitely a good thing. It will force the local officials pay some attention to the poor workers.
