I did not see that. It does prove some things never change:

In the 1956 election, the Democratic candidate Adlai Stevenson was facing an uphill battle against the popular incumbent, Dwight Eisenhower. After one of his speaking engagements, a woman in the crowd called out, “You have the vote of every thinking person in America!” Stevenson turned around and replied, “That's not enough; I need a majority."
