To: American Spirit who wrote (20173 ) 10/19/2004 11:46:44 AM From: JakeStraw Respond to of 27181 John Kerry’s Proposed Programs Already Biting The Dust By Sher Zieve Oct. 19, 2004 John Kerry’s non-stop bashing and berating of President Bush continues to include ‘the President did and does everything wrong and I’ll do it the right way’. Kerry has actually said that nothing President Bush has ever done has worked or has been the right thing to do… nothing! Hmmmm. As this is a rash and ludicrous statement, perhaps it’s time to take a closer look at Mr. Kerry’s proposals and their impact…thus far. In regards to the Iraq war, Kerry has rebuked President Bush’s allied coalition of nations; which began with 30 countries and now numbers 64. In a far less than prospective presidential moment, Mr. Kerry referred to these nations as: “…some trumped-up, so-called coalition of the bribed, the coerced, the bought and the extorted.” Kerry firmly and resolutely drew a line in the sand, while slapping the US coalition countries in the face, as he introduced himself to the world. The only countries that he still seemed interested in courting were France and Germany. Apparently, his alliance would be a “coalition of the 2”. Kerry was sure that, due to his inimitable charms, he would convince them to join him in (as he calls it) the ‘Iraqi diversion’. But, then France and Germany dropped (or threw) the other shoe. Both countries said that, even if Kerry is elected president of the United States, they will NOT send their troops to Iraq. Kerry’s first ‘proposal’ had bitten the dust. So much for the circuitous ‘Kerry charisma’. Despite the fact that only his Democrat colleagues (Hollings and Rangel) have proposed bringing back the military draft, and the additional fact that Congress recently voted down this Hollings’ bill, Kerry continues to disingenuously shout that President Bush is planning it. Kerry has stated that he will not reinstitute the draft. However, Kerry has also stated that (if elected president) he will add over 40,000 new troops! As large numbers of our current soldiers have already said that they will leave the military (not reenlist) should John Kerry be elected president, if he is to make his numbers Kerry would be forced to institute a new draft. Proposal number two has been thrown out of the window. During the third presidential debate, John Kerry blasted President Bush for not importing lower cost Canadian drugs to be used by the elderly. Kerry advised that he would not only allow their import but, begin a US program to do so! Apparently, Canada heard him…loudly and clearly. Today, the AP news service reports that groups of Canadians (numbering approximately 10 million) are petitioning the Canadian government to ban all of [their] drug exports to other countries; specifically the United States. Louise Binder (Canadian Treatment Action Council and Best Medicines Coalition) said: "It is completely untenable to think that Canada could supply their needs and our own for even one month, let along on an ongoing basis.” Kerry’s proposal number three is down the tubes. If even these 3 Kerry proposals are being met with disdain and fear, both domestically and around the world, it is doubtful (if not virtually impossible) that he would be able to push any of his yet-to-be-devised proposals through. However, this is not a new situation for Mr. Kerry. Historically and throughout his 20-year Senate career, he has seldom (if ever) been able pass his bills through Congress. His colleagues saw them as untenable, if not foolish. Other than forming a new alliance of “the bribed and coerced in Congress”, can this man have any hope of pushing his irrational proposals through? As president, John Kerry would not only place the country in serious jeopardy due to his waffling flip-flops but, he wouldn’t be able to implement much…if anything. There is strong reason to reelect President Bush but, nothing to recommend the Socialist candidate to the Presidency of the United States. Nothing at all…
