hi jewel, i sure can't disagree with your point about social groups having rules. i do think, though, that their enforcement should be equitable and not intentionally humiliating. I believe that, if polled, we might find the majority of Americans who call themselves catholic either believe in the necessity of abortion under certain circumstances or use birth control. and yet, i am not aware of any movement to excommunicate thousands of catholics based on these beliefs and practices. i say all this as an ex-catholic, by the way...:-)
