<<The Pennsylvania Dutch are not Dutch at all. They are of German descent. The origin of the "Pennsylvania Dutch" misnomer is uncertain. It may have come about due to a mispronunciation of Pennsylvania "Deutsch.">>

You got it. I used to have a duck hunting blind on a two acre hole in the woods called the Dutchman's hole. Some German cleared the timber and dug the wet spot probably 70 years ago. We say Germans but most Germans pronounce the G as a hard CH but they sing Deutschland Uber Allis.

Knight, I knew that Dutch was intended to be Deutsch, which is, of course, German. As I said in posts to others, my question is why the word "Pennsylvania" was added to their distinction, when no others use the state name in their ethnicity. So far, no one seems to know the reason.
