I remember well, many people chose to get out simply because they did not want Clinton signing their retirement certificate. Michael, You are absolutely right. I forgot all about that. I also know that, after Clinton assumed command, in some units' dining ins (a formal and traditional dinner for unit officers marked with much tradition) when the obligatory first toast was offered, "To our Commander-in-Chief" most would not hoist their glass and none would drink. Clinton has only been gone 3 1/2 years. There is a helluva lot of institutional memory left about what the demos did to our Armed Forces during his reign. The trust level for Kerry is near zero if not zero and he has not commanded yet. If Kerry wins election, America is going to find out their all volunteer force is not interested in assuming the neglected child role again. If Americans want the Armed Forces to fight and defend them, they must do two things. 1. Support the troops and not just when it is easy. Most of the troops deserve support even when it is hard to do so. 0.000066% of the troops in Iraq were involved in Abu Graib. The headlines and some politicians made it difficult to respect and support the other 99.999934%, but that is exactly what must be done. GWB did that. Kerry did not. Soldiers know the difference. 2. America must provide adult leadership to our Armed Forces. Leaders that have a lifelong commitment and personal history of support to our military. Kerry burned his bridges to the military in 1970 and 1971. One year and one day ago, John Kerry bombed those burnt-out bridges when he voted against providing our troops in combat the supplies, the equipment and the ammunition they need to fight and survive. Soldiers know that. I talk to members of our Armed Forces everyday. I don't believe there is a man or women on active duty who would follow John Kerry to a coffee bar for a Cappucino. And they certainly would not allow him to buy theirs. A group of uniformed airmen at an airport told me recently that Kerry is like a drunk father who beats his kids, he just can't stop abusing them. One explained that their hope is that America understands that they are all grown up now and they are not going to volunteer to suffer under that Kerry axxhole anymore. unclewest
