Since we were nowhere near theocracy when I was born, in 1956, I am not so worried about anything like the establishment of religion.

Probably to your surprise, the notion of a state sponsored religion isn't repugnant to me. England has the Church of England and the head of the Church is QEII. They seem to be plugging along ok. It's what you do with it that counts.

In the US, it's not that a state sponsored religion is imminent. It's the attempt by religious groups to impose their religious points of view on society. Fine lines exist between ethics, morality, religion and law. Sometimes so fine that we can't see them.
