Verdad, my earlier prediction, which has now come true, incorporated three factors that were generally ignored by many investment firms: 1. Royalties from sales of devices using QUALCOMM owned CDMA patents were greater than expected because of greater than expected sales of WCDMA handsets and related equipment. Chip sales were not the only major contributor.

2. Fees from BREW began to flow to QUALCOMM. The impact of BREW has largely been ignored by many investment firms, which seem to consider BREW and Java as nothing more than another piece of software, instead of looking at BREW as another potentially large profit center.

3. Continuing profit growth from OmniTRACS and related fleet monitoring business has exceeded all expectations. This cash cow keeps expanding as QCOM engineers develop applications for untethered cargo containers and several security based applications dealing with movement of people and cargo.

The question that all investors face now is NOT whether QUALCOMM will continue to grow rapidly (it will) but whether the sorry state of the economy will prevent improved profits from being translated into higher stock prices.
