America is beautiful.

The weather cleared yesterday morning. The clouds parted revealing the higher mountaintops around us are a beautiful snowy white.

Four of us went to Farragut State Park yesterday morning to do the shoreline hike along Lake Pend Oreille again. Had the binocs on a family of Rocky Mountain Big-Horn Sheep walking along rocky ledges across the lake from us.

After hiking, we drove by the Navy Underwater Research facility to get some lunch at Bayview. Saw three submarines at the docks.

No Bald Eagles in sight yet, but they are due. Approximately 200 are expected to winter in this area. They will fish Lake Pend Oreille, Coeur d'Alene Lake and some of the smaller Lakes. The Eagles will begin arriving any day.

The fall colors are spectacular. The stands of quaking Aspen in the hills are particularly colorful. Ditto for the Maples in town.

Heavy snow is falling right now about 15 miles East of us along I-90. Time to winterize. The sprinkler system gets blown out on tomorrow. The boat gets winterized by the Marina folks today. They will shrink wrap it and store it all winter indoors. I bought some RV anti-freeze. Will winterize the camper today too. Also today, will remove the pump from the backyard waterfall, I built this summer, and close all the foundation vents.

And there will be life after politics. Along with some 20 other SFers, we volunteered last night to assist with Christmas for the 1200 Montagnard refugee families. That means 2-3 weeks in NC just before and during the holidays. From there, we plan a week on Marco Island, two weeks in Islamorada, and one week at The Villages.

Hopefully that will be enough to wash John Kerry off of my skin. But Kerry is a persistent poison like Agent Orange and algore, I doubt I will ever get him completely out of my system.

Yes, America is a beautiful place. She just needs a little weeding once in a while to keep her beautiful.
