That's easy. The alternative would have been to not rush and use diplomacy to shape an international coaltion force or institute a draft to get the troop numbers up. As opposed to Bush's method of going to war unilaterally, as if big bad Saddam was coming to bite America. Really, Bush and cronies didn't want to accept the fact that they needed a force of about 400,000 to do the job well. 200,000 to win the war and 200,000 to maintain the peace. Instead, the president invades a country on the cheap and voila here we are today.
