"We’ve experienced a highly successful season extending our programs into the fall," said committee chairwoman Audrey Bierhans. "Our goal on (Sunday) is to bring together a bipartisan group of candidates running for office in the area to meet with the public and experience President Abraham Lincoln in the presence of re-enactor Steve Wood of Claremont, who will discuss the art of the debate with those attending." seacoastonline.com Bierhans said the grave site of William Whipple, a signer of the Declaration of Independence from New Hampshire, would be the perfect site for such an event. "Not far from Whipple’s grave is the crypt holding the remains of Governor John Langdon, who led the attack on Fort William and Mary. Many of us here in New Hampshire consider this to be the first shot fired in the American Revolution," Bierhans added. Both congressional and U.S. Senate candidates as well as those seeking seats in the state Senate and House have been invited, she said. At this point the list of attendees includes John Lyons, Martha Fuller Clark, Raimond Bowles, Mary Ann Blanchard, Paul Chevalier, Teri Norelli, Laura Pantelakos, Jim Powers, Jeff Semprini and Jim Splaine. "Sen. Gregg’s office did indicate they would send a representative," said Bierhans.
