Many, (most?) people would disagree with your definition.

First of all, it's not MY definition. It is the definition you get taught in schools. It is the basic definition. The normal definition. The definition the person on the street understands, before he starts thinking too much on the subject [remember a time when you knew exactly what that talking head on tv meant when he said "inflation was 3% last year"? :-) ] And it is the definition you get on a zillion links when you google "definition inflation" and "definition deflation".

They would say that inflation and deflation are MONETARY related NOT PRICE related.

Related, sure. Like shivering of cold is related to the thickness of your clothing and the ambient temperature. But those are NOT definition of "being cold". Let us not confuse probable cause with the actual effect that we are talking about.
