One gets more joules of energy per kilogram out of ethanol than from methanol. Cellulose ---> methanol? Do you have a link to that? Despite its inferiority to ethanol its source, cellulose, is a lot cheaper than sugar. Hey, this discussion is getting really practical, leading to some kind of investment action, er, perhaps.
