Mary,

I think abortion is something that we can all help in preventing. We don't need government to tell us how to do it. We should be ahead of government on this issue.

Agreed - but do we need government funding it?

Polygamy is not a common occurance. I am not a lawyer, but I think there are laws against polygamy. I am not aware that polygamy violates any federal laws. I think the laws in place should suffice. I don't think we need any new laws.

Polygamy is common in Utah, though illegal, and common with Muslims. It was outlawed by federal statute as part of admitting Utah to the Union. But laws also exist banning sodomy. So if existing laws should 'suffice', gay marriage would not happen and sodomy would be prosecuted.

we should accept anything good that happens - why not?

The correct answer by medical ethicists (although this was the dark ages back in 1981) was to burn the research. No ethical use of unethically obtained data.

Would you ban cloning humans? If so, would you permit cloning humans to harvest parts? How about just cloning organs?

Would you stop any research?

John

But who knows? Judge Scalia has said that he could accept the premise that group sex could relieve certain social tensions.

Polygamy is common in humans. Orgies are not common. Bigamy is illegal in most countries.
