The gas pipeline is going to cost $20-25 billion, so BP/COP/XOM will need to round up some dough. How do these big operators normally finance their projects? Given the way royalty trusts have performed lately, I bet they could rustle up some serious bucks by going that route.

But here's an interesting wrinkle... the State of Alaska is considering taking a major equity stake in the pipeline. Our governor is going to start the negotiations soon.
