News poll: Bush leads in Michigan State still up for grabs since president's support remains below critical 50 percentdetnews.com I will say that this poll has a small sample size and it has different results than a recent Detroit Free Press poll which had Kerry up by several points...Kerry has a popular Democratic Governor in Michigan and lots of grass roots supporters out making calls...Yet, He needs to visit this state again and talk about jobs of the future, healthcare and the environment (all huge issues here). Michigan has LOTS of delegates and the Kerry folks should be spending more time here...Put IA on the back burner and FOCUS like a laser beam on the delegate-rich states that are close and mission critical to win (eg. NJ, PA, FL, OH, MI, WI, MN, CO)...Go where the delegates are and PLAY TO WIN...You have to show up in these states often and in a compelling way. I recently heard John Zogby's address to The Detroit Economic Club and he said both Bush and Kerry have consolidated their bases BUT it is the remaining 5% that are hard core undecided voters...less than 15% of this group say Bush deserves to be re-elected...Zogby claims that virtually all the undecided voters have made their mind up about Bush...It's up to Kerry to close the sale though...IF Kerry is persuasive and inspires most of these folks to vote Zogby says Kerry should win...Zogby says the race is "still Kerry's to lose"...the undecided folks will have a hard time breaking for Bush...IF there is record turnout nationally (and Zogby says it could be as high as 120 million vs. 105 million in 2000) then many of these new voters should go towards Kerry and he will win the election...It's all about turnout in the crucial battleground states. -s2@IjustGotMyAbsenteeBallotToday.com
