Democratic challenger John Kerry has nearly closed a seven-point gap among Florida likely voters and now trails President George W. Bush 48 - 47 percent, a statistical tie, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today. Independent candidate Ralph Nader gets 1 percent.

This compares to President Bush's 51 - 44 percent likely voter lead over Sen. Kerry in an October 7 poll by the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN uh-pe-ack) University.

Among registered voters backing Bush, 80 percent say they are voting mainly for the President. Among Kerry supporters, 56 percent are voting mainly for the Democrat and 39 percent voting mainly against Bush.

"The race in Florida is going down to the wire again. Sen. Kerry, bolstered by his strong showing in the debates, has nearly closed the gap on President Bush. The debates strengthened Kerry's image in Florida, where for the first time more Kerry supporters say their vote means they are voting for the Senator, and not just against President Bush," said Clay F. Richards, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.

Here ios the test of a REAL vote for the poor folks::: READ CLOSELY!!!!

When Sen. Kerry released his latest tax returns in April, he reported no charitable contributions... A review of his returns between 1990 and 1995 found that he had earned $742,042 and donated $4,869 -- 0.7 percent of his income -- to charity.

at the time this story was printed...for the current year...NO GIVING...for the five years previous???

$4869.00 out of 742,042 earned....that is a whole 974 bucks A YEAR.........holy moly........

that is really watching out for the poor, isn't it???

If you really want the whole story, then take a look at kerry's tax returns, he has never given to charity, not one dime until this past year, and now only because he's running for a national office... you need to learn how to separate between cheap political mantras and real life... the guy doesn't care about you, he suckered you in for a vote... he'll say and do anything to get elected, then he's going to tax the living crap out of you and cut off any hope for an economic recovery... some day you'll learn... all I can say is thank goodness Bush will win the vote...
