RIDGE AND RICE POLITICIZE SECURITY

Secretary of Homeland Security Tom Ridge told reporters, "we don't do politics in the Department of Homeland Security."[1] But a new analysis by the Associated Press reveals that the travel schedule of Ridge and other top DHS officials are influenced by political considerations.

According to the report, in the past seven months nearly three-fifths of Ridge's travel has been to "the 17 states considered the most hotly contested in the presidential election."[2] In the same time period, 22 senior officials "did nearly half their public events in those 17 states."[3] Sue Mencer, who heads the Office of Domestic Preparedness for DHS, recently traveled to Ohio - a key battleground state - "to deliver a grant that had been awarded weeks earlier."[4]

National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice has also "traveled across the country making speeches in key battleground states, including Oregon, Washington, North Carolina and Ohio."[5] In the next few days "she also plans speeches in Pennsylvania, Michigan and Florida."[6] White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan denied the appearances were politically motivated.[7]

Not just P. Diddy...Russell Simmons, LL Cool J...All the pioneers in the Rap arena seem to be working hard to 'Rock The Vote' and register new voters...The vast majority of their audience will be voting for Kerry.

btw, Here's a review of a music group John Kerry was in when he was young...;-)

<<...The Electras [ft. Senator John Kerry]: "Ya Ya"
Poor rich John Kerry: He doesn't haunt a fraction of the MP3s that his opponent Georgeface Killah does. Oh, but when he was 16, he played a mean, stodgy-boogie bass in a high school surf-ish cover band whose tightness suggests either The Shaggs or Artistic Vice, the album Daniel Johnston made with too many of his West Virginia church brethren. A sampler of The Electras' work is hosted on Kerryrocks.com, which tried to recruit young 2004 artists to sample or reinterpret the band's (mostly) instrumentals, yielding songs with lyrics such as, "In terms of foreign policy, he's playin' it cool," and, "Come and get free tonight."

I've listened to the whole 1961 album, and this is the only track during which The Electras unleash. Their version may not be as soulful as Lee Dorsey's original, but you get an extra 30 seconds of rocking, several one-key solos, and some bizarre offtime jazzy drum fills. Aren't we all, "Sittin in la-la/ Waiting for my ya-ya"? Did the Bush kid ever do anything this suave?...>>

JUNK YARD BLOG - WHY DO THE CLINTONS BACK KERRY?

Because if Kerry wins, Bill Clinton may become U.N. Secretary General in 2006. First things first.

Former U.S. President Bill Clinton has set his sights on becoming U.N. secretary-general. A Clinton insider and a senior U.N. source have told United Press International the 56-year-old former president would like to be named leader of the world body when Kofi Annan's term ends early in 2006.

"He definitely wants to do it," the Clinton insider said this week.

A Clinton candidacy is likely to receive overwhelming support from U.N. member states, particularly the Third World. Diplomats in Washington say Clinton would galvanize the United Nations and give an enormous boost to its prestige.
