The FED can admit the economy is weak AFTER the election. Right now neutral rates would be between 4% and 5%. Anything below that indicates weakness.

"Neutral": Inflation is 2.5% to 3%. A neutral real rate would be 1.5% to 2%, and that gives 4% to 5%.

If they think neutral is lower than that, they think we will see less inflation going forward.
