BP (UK) bought ARCO (US)
PDVSA (Venezuela) bought Citgo (US)
BHP (Aussie) bought Utah International (US)
Daimler (German) bought Chrysler (US)
Deutsch Telecom bought the cell phone carrier that's now T-moble (Airtouch ?)
Phillips (Nederlands) bought Signetics, VLSI logic

Sun Myung Moon (Korea) bought Washington Times, AP

In all these cases, you could argue that the buyer is to some degree a state vehicle - especially PDVSA.
