<Frankly, both Afghanis and Iraqi were vastly better off in 1978, before U.S. covert interventions grotesquely destabilized each of these nations.>

USSR invaded Afghanistan during that time, it was not USA. Iraq invaded Iran under tutelage of ' stopping Shiite revolution being exported to impact Shiite soft belly in south and Arabian Peninsula. Please don't mutilate history.

<Freedom from warlords? Freedom from opium cultivation? Freedom from the burka? Freedom from......>

Yes these are the vices; the virtues are that journey to free the nation from these vices has finally started.

A timely reminder...Lot was being written about 'conspiracies of 911,' some on this thread had several posts where they had their doubts on circumstances surrounding 911, one particular accusation was that 911 was planned by Mossad, this piece of 'misinformation' did gain a lot of currency in ME, it was said that many Jewish employees were notably absent from work on 911.

Now that OBL has accepted responsibility without naming those posters can I request that they may kindly accept that how wrong their reading was?

Moreover the posts relating to attack on Pentagon, it is now clear that it was destroyed by OBL operatives and not a conspiracy of the US government to launch a war on Islamic lands. I hope I will hear soon.
