That's probably true. I imagine the truth is likely somewhere in the middle even it is hard to tell exactly where.

The other issue is that "intolerance" isn't one thing. Bob can be intolerant of X but not Y, and Sally can be intolerant of Y but not X. Also not all intolerance qualified as bigotry. To take an obvious example intolerance of terrorism isn't bigotry. Terrorism wasn't in the survey (and wouldn't have really fit), but I wouldn't consider intolerance of adultery to be bigotry either.
