That was probably the gun used to shoot the goose used by his guide.

Reminds me of a guide in Southern Illinois who used to shoot geese to help the hunters "bag" their two geese limits quicker so they could run more hunters through the blind. He started bragging to his last two hunters how he had killed 48 geese that morning. He should have asked them if they were Federal Game Wardens wearing wires first.
