Not to mention China is using old coal fire power units, big polluters. The yellow river is dead, the Yangtze almost dead and they are exempt, total BS. I proud that Bush stood up to the PC crowd over this

Re: But I have to agree that the idea of exempting "developing" countries does smack of socialism/redistribution, especially when China has the second biggest economy in the world and India is also well up the list. Clearly, and not only to be fair but to be correct, everyone should cut back on emissions.

But, I have an idea that "developing" doesn't only mean that -- it also means not-white, and then the exemptions make even more sense --- affirmative action on a grand scale.

LOL... But who devised that Kyoto stuff in the first place??? Who wants to slow down the global economy because they can't keep up? I'll tell you: it's your Euro pals. The only way for Europe to keep up --economically speaking-- is to saddle the US and Asian economies with ever more environmental/social constraints until their growth rates fall back to "EU levels" (read: 2-3% annual GDP growth).

Now, if American fatsoes can drive gas-guzzling SUVs around, why Chinese middle class couldn't do the same? Are the SUVs good for American fatsoes only and bikes good for the Chinks?

You complain about greenhouse emissions and air pollution by Chinese smokestack industries --oh, terrible indeed! But which country messed up BIG TIME in 1986 in Chernobyl??? Thousands of people in Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria, and Western Europe were contaminated by the ensuing radioactive cloud... Thousands died from thyroid cancer and the like...(*) So perhaps you should start lecturing your Russkie pals before sermonizing the Chinese.
