The NRA takes its stand on handheld, NOT fully automatic (i.e. machine guns), firearms. It doesn't matter whether a firearm is ugly, like the AK-47, or has cosmetic features that make no difference to the function. For myself, I prefer beautiful firearms like the Colt Peacemaker or the Model 1886 Winchester, both of which have been around for over 100 years. Another is the 1911 Automatic Colt Pistol, nearly 100 years old and still beautiful. If you want an ugly gun, Sprite, go ahead. Kerry has one, or claims to. I don't care. No machine guns though. Those are illegal.
