Please define cushion? Which states and what sources. As of today it still looks closer than that although i expect you will be right in the end.

what I mean is that Bush has been privately assured of at least 60 more electoral college votes than he needs to be elected president. I can't tell you which states or sources. I was told this by some cigar smoking "good old boys", content and confident in the outcome. The election is all but over.
