Karen, On Sept 11, 2001, a student of mine, who is a major in Army Corps of Engineers was heading to school for a class. He heard on the radio about the bombing on the Pentagon. He was not on active duty. Yet, he turned back to head to the Pentagon - with only thought that his services are needed there. The traffic was chaotic. There is no way he could have made it by normal means. He drove on the grass, on the median and on the sidewalks to get there. When a cop stopped him he showed hi ID and told him where he is headed. The cop saluted and let him go. To me that is heroism.
