I HAVE looked at the evidence myself, but given my "mindset", I didn't choose embellish it with bulls#!t as you have. You said he was "AWOL", which means "absent without leave". He WAS given leave to go to Alabama and find a unit where he could attend drills. He did that. Furthermore, you said he was absent for a year. The span from his last training day in Texas and his first one in Alabama was approximately six months - April to October '72. And, in fact, he met ALL his service obligations for every year he was in the service, including 1972. There isn't even a hint of illegal behavior (going AWOL is a crime, you know) in his record, or disciplinary problems of any sort. His performance evaluations are all outstanding. You are the one out to lunch and you seem particularly full of it today.
