Why John Kerry Hopes You Let It Be Him Written by Isaac Strahl Friday, October 22, 2004 Jane Chastain, like all of us, had a daddy (you liberals who grew up in a single-parent home might not understand this), but she is all grown up now and does not need John Kerry to fill that role. Yet, she says, that seems exactly what Kerry wants to do: Transform the government into one colossal daddy, albeit a bloated, inefficient, and dictatorial one. Did the brilliant men who founded our country envision this? No, indeed, and it was their idea of limited government that allowed us to prosper and grow great. That idea--limited government--makes liberals see red. Maybe they don't appreciate prosperity or greatness. Or maybe they just covet power and look at themselves as daddies and rest of us as children incapable of running our own lives. We have excerpted Chastain's column below. We fought a war with the British to gain freedom. Patrick Henry's ''Give me liberty or give me death,'' speech was the rallying cry of the colonists who were willing to die in order to break free from the ''security'' offered by the mother country because it came with a heavy price. The hallmark of freedom in this country is the ability to control a fair portion of what you earn and the ability to own and control property (real estate). Check out the ratings given to John Kerry and John Edwards by two non-partisan watchdog groups, the National Taxpayers Union Foundation, and the American Land Rights Association. Both received an average grade of ''F'' for their votes in the Senate from the National Taxpayers Union, and both were rated an ''enemy'' of private property rights by the American Land Rights Association. Our founding fathers never could have imagined that we would become so complacent that we would allow this government to take a third of what we earn--half if you add in cost of all the hidden taxes and fees and the cost of regulations. They never could have imagined a day when we allow this new government to overpower us, to control us. Read the entire article here: wnd.com
