"Just seems like folks aren't as happy as they used to be"

For me, it's going from paying DOWN the deficit, something I didn't think I'd live to see, to exploding the deficit in four short years. I can manage my own finances (no debt PERIOD) - but the government has control over a Mastercard in my pocket, and I CAN'T control them. I KNOW I'm going to have to pay for Bush's borrow and spend, and I can't be happy about it.

Why aren't people as happy as they used to be? Why is there less party money to go around?

The below deficit figures are most telling, by no means GOPwinger bragging material and likely the reason, together with the failure of Iraq, why Bush's campaign resorts to distortioned attacks against Kerry. Probably had a lot to do with the manner in which Bush behaved during the debates.

What Clinton did with what he got from the first Bush:

'92 = -290.4
'93 = -255.1
'94 = -203.3
'95 = -164
'96 = -107.5
'97 = - 22
'98 = + 69.2
'99 = +125.6
'00 = +236.4
'01 = +127.4

What Bush did with what he got from Clinton:

'02 = -157.8
'03 = -375.3
'04 = -422
'05 = -348

No question about it, lots of Republicans will be holding their noses as they vote for their party's candidate! Some won't vote at all or will write in another name and, yes, a few will switch sides and vote for Kerry.
