CB, I understand that eating the catch is part of the fun. I've caught and killed swarms of fish and a neighbour kindly provided swan, which was great. But doves? They'd be better than a sparrow, but not much.

I wrongly assumed that the doves are just shot and left.

I love real food, which is hard to find in the modern world, and now I'm thinking that maybe dove-shooting isn't the gun-nut game I thought it was. Modern food really is pitiful. Belgian meat is not worth eating. Food is mostly artificial and tastes it, fed with anything to give quantity, not quality; appearance, but not substance.

I hereby apologize to said Texans for making fun of them [at a safe distance; not that I think they are violent gun-nuts or anything - heck, some of best friends are Texans].
