>>you will not find many history books that include Korea or Vietnam in the Cold War

Well, actually, it is commonly accepted by historians that Korea and Vietnam were part of the Cold War.

If you have any actual training in history other than high school, what your dad told you, and what you read in the newspapers or see on TV, let me know. Because so far you seem like a typical techie. You know a lot about math, maybe a lot about science, but nothing about history.

I know, I know, history doesn't require math, so it's for dummies.

If you really believed Vietnam and Korea were not part of the cold war, you are younger than I thought.

The Korean war was really fought between the UN (of which the US is the biggest contributor) and China's and NK military with Soviet's technology and resources.

The Vietnam war really was fought by the NV men with soviet weaponry against the US.

The cold war lasted from 1945 before the siege of Berlin until 1990 with the the breakup of the Soviet Union. Due to the general malaise and dishonor of Vietnam, before Reagan came on the scene, under Carter, the outcome really was not that certain. "Cold War" as a term was first used in 1947 during a congressional debate.

Here's some history text you should read first.

Gee-- since it was a 'cold war' the MIAs must not really be missing? You might remember Gary Powers. Just because the goofballs like Rather did not know what was going on does not mean nothing was going on..
