You can blame 9/11 for inflation. Hey Van Smack, who said anything about inflation. My hero, Mr. Greenspan, has been trying to inflate the economy for years now (i.e. historically low interest rates), and is just starting to hint at his success. The slide of the dollar is indicative of the fact that Euroland and Asia have decided there are better places to finance their futures.
