Hello Dave: Perhaps your father-in-law knew my father. His plane went down just off the north African coast of the Mediterranean near Tunis. He was captured by the Muslims who turned him over to their allies the Nazis, who flew him to Italy and marched him to the camps. This was of course before Rommel was defeated or Italy surrendered. Lucky for me, (and perhaps your wife) but shortly before the Great Escape my father and perhaps thousands more were sent to march off to another camp. One inaccuracy of the movie was that the tunnel king played by Charles Bronson was there, when in fact, Flight lieutenant Wally Floody was also sent out to march to another camp before the actual escape occurred.
