OK, maybe that estimate was just for stainless. Whatever, it will be a big project with a lot of demand for materials. I think the cost estimates will be a moving target, since lots of scarce energy will be required to produce the materials that are supposed to relieve us from the energy shortage.

managing director of the Petrobras subsidiary na Nigeria

<<“I’d heard rumours about bribery and corruption. We could never live in that kind of environment so my first mission was to investigate how true the stories were and how far we could believe in the new guidelines set out by President Obasanjo. “He came to Brazil before he was elected. He met our president and he motivated Petrobras to come here, but we had to be sure about the move. I have been here almost two years and I have never experienced a situation that would qualify as one involving bribery and corruption.”>>

According to transparency International: Nigeria was the second most corrupt and the year before the most corrupt, This year it is the third most corrupt country in the world.

Now tell me. Is this Petrobras MD good or what?

Hello EP, Once again, I bow before you, for an updated view of the state of IS in natural gas space, now that I am once more frightened of how much better off I am now compared to before.

TIA.

Chugs, Jay

Here's the source of the claim that the pipeline would require a year's worth of global steel output. It came from our glorious Alaska "Senator for Life" Ted Stevens (who once tried to promote the idea of generating electricity from the Aurora Borealis)...

The Hummer Gets Downsized

The Wall Street Journal Online
By Lee Hawkins Jr.

As Sales of Giant SUV Drop, GM Plans a Smaller Version That Is More Fuel Efficient

General Motors Corp.'s Hummer division, best known for the hulking Hummer H2, will roll out a smaller, more fuel-efficient version of the sports-utility vehicle next year in a move to reinvigorate the brand, which has slumped amid rising gas prices.

Hummer's new model, called the H3, gets roughly 17 to 20 miles per gallon, compared with 10 to 12.5 for the H2. The H3 will hit the market next summer.
