The America I know is the homeless shelter of the world, and the only thing it ask's [sic] for in return is being a good citizen

And the key to this sentence is that people become "good citizens". This means a little more than just taking advantage of our benefits. Most people aren't trying to control the borders because they want to keep people out; they are tired of those who want the American dream without the "American" part of it.
You seem to have missed the entire symbiotic relationship of a citizen and his country. We are not a "homeless shelter", although that is exactly what some consider us. We are not a charity for the dependent, a free meal and medical care. We offer a chance to become part of something wonderful-to achieve that life that you are enjoying so much. But nothing comes without obligations. That's the part you seem to be ignoring. Those immigrants you cite understood that, and willingly fought world wars to preserve what you would now leave in so blasé a manner, as if America were just a Holiday Inn you temporarily occupied while the sheets and toilets were kept clean.

Spehres, Rambi just said it all....much better than I.

America works, because Americans work together. A goal for most parents is that we send our children when they are grown, out as good citizens, both to the world, and to themselves. We have done that with ours, and it wasn't easy. But that is life, and we are proud of them, their families, and their accomplishments.

IMHO, the comment about your parents ("soon to be a liability") is rather shocking to me....it is definitely most "un-Christian-like".

I too, profess to be a Christian. Never have I heard that kind of remark in or out of Church.

In this world, if you think about it, there are two kinds of people.....the builders-creators..... and the exploiters. Each of us has a choice about what is our contribution.
