There will be those who want to amplify abu ghraib as another MyLai.

Do not let the true lessons of Vietnam go by without rebuttal. If we see the same attempts at distortions applied this time, we must stand up and expose them for what they are. Do not be intimidated by those who would shout you down to advance their agenda.

Abu Ghraib was done by individual people and they have to answer to them. This does not reflect on how the other members of the volunteer military conduct themselves in Iraq.

He applies this statement to Bush, where it applies much better to Kerry.

It doesn't matter if it applies much better to Kerry. If you have something that you believe in and one of your supposed brethren betrays it, that matters. We are most disappointed by those from whom we expect the most. Most hurt by those we love. Most betrayed by those upon whom we were counting. Doesn't matter so much what other folks do, folks from whom we expect nothing.
