Individual liberty -- Bush is working for this very hard. He's just promoting the individual liberty of people you don't think need it -- the unborn, the devout, entrepreneurs, taxpayers, gun owners, to name a few. Constitutional restraint -- Bush is also working on this very hard. He's trying to appoint judges who will exercise judicial restraint, but Congress is blocking potentially excellent judges, like Estrada. Limited government -- Bush has a mixed record on this, but he defers more to the states than Clinton did or Kerry would. Fiscal responsibility -- during wars it's normal to spend more money than in peacetime. That's just a fact. I agree we need to get rid of agricultural subsidies, and I am not happy about "No Child Left Behind" (written by Ted Kennedy). Prescription drugs is a social dilemma. Health care costs need to be contained, somehow, or managed better. Other than that, he's doing OK. Government spending as a percentage of GDP is not high by historical standards, it's on a par with several of Clinton's years.
