Abu Graib was a war crime. The GOP commended the soldier who blew the whistle on it. They held him up as an example of someone honest. At the same time they call JK a traitor for relaying the true tales of vets who'd had to do terrible things in Vietnam because of the free fire zones and Phoenix Program.
