There were other cases of people riding out the hurricane, only to be swept away in the storm...and then there is the guy who was crossing the bridge to the mainland in an 18 wheeler who said he was running ahead of the storm.

His cab was long gone, but his trailer remained on the bridge.
They found him later, still in his cab..but still dead also.
