Bottomline, every smearvet claim is either an outright lie, a total contradiction of past statements, first-hand eye-witness accounts and Navy records, or a flip-flop distortion of fact trying to turn one thing into its opposite by use of Soviet style propaganda techniques. Example: Kerry wants the end the war which would bring home troops and save their lives, but the smearvet claim is that Kerry was betraying the troops and helping the enemy by trying to end the war. Didn't matter the vast majority of Americans also wanted the war to end and Nixon was promising to end it. War hero and peace-maker Kerry was the "traitor". Exactly the opposite is true. He was a hero in combat and a hero who helped end the war and save vets and POW's. SImple fact: not a hair on any POW's head was ever harmed because of JK, and he helped bring the POW's home early. He also devoted years of his life later with McCain to resolve the whole POW-MIA issue, for which the smearvets types called them both "traitors". So from a smearvet POV, anyone is a traitor simply because they run against Bush.
