No, I only supported it, even if skeptically so, because of the Nuclear argument that they were selling at the time... that same nuclear argument which has since been refuted.

As facts are showing, this isn't a case of bad intel or better information later coming to light. The principal case in the nuclear argument had been refuted before 9/11 - only the public did not know this then.

The clear and compelling argument for going into Iraq was never there -- this administration KNEW IN AUGUST 2001 that argument did not hold water.

Prior to Powell signing up to this, I was skeptical, as were many in and outside of the US. Powell's apparent credibility then was very clearly used as a tool to sell the justification for going in.

The presence or absence of chemical or bio warfare weapons would not have given Bush the free ride, relatively speaking, the world gave him on going into Iraq - but colorful imagery of mushroom clouds did. I highly doubt that Congress would have given him authority to use force in Iraq if not for the constant jacking up of nuclear rhetoric, furthered by Bush himself in the State of the Union address.

Changing an opinion once it is discovered that you have been lied to is not a "revisionist view of history".

I fully expect that Bush / Cheney / Wolfowitz et al will go down in history has having perpetrated a massive fraud on the American people -- that will be the real view of history.
