Kerry the goose hunter, October 21, 2004.
IN VARIOUS KERRY SPOT NEWS... [10/24 09:02 PM]

Tomorrow at noon the Washington Post announces the winners of its Best Blogs Contest. As you'll recall, Kerry Spot was nominated in the category of "Best Political Dirt." Here's hoping, and thanks to all who clicked for the "Kerry Spot" in that category.

In other news, Mrs. Kerry Spot wishes you could have seen the dance that your humble correspondent did when Peggy Noonan, currently on leave from the Wall Street Journal and current unpaid consultant to the RNC, used the word "Pajamahadeen" in an interview with Tim Russert Saturday night.

AN INTERESTING COMMENT, AND A RUMOR [10/24 11:55 AM]

Kerry Spot reader Dave notices the comments of pollster John Zogby in recent days.

Saturday:

Pollster John Zogby: "Bush had a stronger single day of polling, leading Kerry 49% to 46%. For the first time, in the one-day sample Bush had a positive re-elect, 49% to the 48% who feel it's time for someone new. Also in the one-day sample, Undecideds were only 4%. Could Undecideds be breaking for Bush?
Sunday:

Pollster John Zogby: “Another good single day of polling for President Bush. In today’s sample alone, he leads 50% to 43%—the first time we’ve seen either candidate hit 50%. Each candidate continues to tighten his own constituency, and Undecided voters are now at only 4%
Also, Kerry Spot reader Marty says a poll coming out later today (Sunday) in a Northeastern state that had been considered safe Kerry - supremely safe Kerry, actually - will show a 2 point race. It could be just a bad sample, but it's interesting - kind of like the Illinois and Maryland polls that came out when Bush was in his post-convention euphoria.

WEIRDNESS IN THE NEWSWEEK POLL [10/24 11:43 AM]

Blogger Sensible Mom notices some oddities in the Newsweek poll, which had Bush’s lead shrinking from six points to two.

President Bush lost support among Republicans and independents and gained support among Democrats…
John Kerry lost support among Democrats and gained support among Republicans and independents.

She wonders if the next one, the last before the election, will suddenly poll more Democrats and conclude that Kerry “has closed the deal.”
