Maybe the reason Afghanistan looks relatively good from here is because their system is so low tech right now. Voting has always been a pretty low tech act. Now that technology claims to "improve" the process, we have all sorts of problems. But any system can be gamed. China will learn many lessons from this election. The question is, will we? The Taiwan election seems far in the past to me. But it was suspicious from the beginning. Right now none of the news is good for Bush. Would a terrorist attack help him out?
