Apparently you don't grasp concepts well, simple or otherwise. Or, you are yourself suffering from cognitive dissonance and are uncomfortable with your long held beliefs being challenged by straight forward, yet discordant to you, information and opinion.

Let me make if simple for you: it is possible, in fact its entirely reasonable, to suggest:

- many people had important roles in taking action which contributed to the fall of the Soviet Union

- Reagan had a role, certainly so, by promoting specific policies

... while at the same time asserting:

- Reagan's role was not paramount in the process

- If all the other individuals, except Reagan, remained in their roles, the Soviet Union very likely would have collapsed in the same manner, in roughly the same time frame
