What if it was your family being "shocked and awed" by a foreign countries "scorched earth" approach? How would you react?

I'm not saying any family likes being in the road of the scorched earth - rather, it's really the only option (at least military option) avaliable since the coalition has let the "insurgency" get to its current level.

My point was that an "assault" on Fallujah is not going to leave Iraq "more divided" (in my opinion), it is more likely to leave Fallujah quite decimated, such that the survivors are expected to fall into line with the coalition goal of elections followed by representative democracy. Not everyone in Fallujah is going to take up armed struggle, so the assault will make an attempt to kill all those that do, probably kill a lot of "civilians" along the way, and those that are left will hopefully be the ones that are less inclined to participate in armed resistance.

But what do I know - I'm not a military expert...
